Exposition au studio d'ARTV

J'expose actuellement une illustration au Studio d'ARTV et ce, avec 12 autres artistes, pour mettre de l'avant la nouvelle programmation d'automne. J'ai eu le mandat d'illustrer Comme Par Magie, l'émission de Luc Langevin, le magicien.

Il y avait embargo sur la diffusion de nos oeuvres jusqu'à l'ouverture de l'expo. C'est fait. La voici donc.

Exposition Télé/Romans

 Une invitation pour vous tous: le mercredi 5 septembre prochain, je serai exposant dans une très intéressante expo dans les bureaux d'ARTV, la station de télévision culturelle.

Ils lancent la saison d'automne en grand et ont demandé à 13 illustrateurs de faire 13 illustrations pour 13 émissions qui sont lancées.

Sur l'image juste à coté, le livre Comme Par Magie est celui que j'ai fait, pour lancer l'émission du magicien Luc Langevin.

Treize illustrateurs québécois ont créé des tableaux inspirés de genres littéraires différents mettant en vedette treize émissions diffusées sur ARTV.

Une occasion unique pour ces artistes de présenter sous un jour original différents univers romanesques et les personnages qui les habitent.

Composée de couvertures de romans imaginaires, cette exposition se veut un hommage au talent de tous ceux qui éclairent l’écran d’ARTV et illumineront l’ARTVstudio.

Montreal Comic Con, sept 2011

Hello !

Check me out at stand 161 at the Montreal Comic Con this Saturday and Sunday at Place Bonaventure in Montreal, Quebec, Canada-- I'll be there signing my solo and my collective books: Veena et les Spectre du Temps and Frankenstein Réassemblé. Stand 161 is the stand of Planete BD, representing my publisher 400 Coups.

I may have a new color print to sell. It's a little thing I just finished with Gogo Yubari, that Kill Bill iconic character .

I just opened a Deviant Art account.

There. It's done. I have one now.
I was resisting having one. At first I thought only amateurs were posting there, but I've since changed my mind. A lot of beautiful artwork by gifted artists there is....
It's when I realised that Clement Sauvé had an account there, and many fans, that I changed my mind. I'll try to post a drawing each week.

Un Joual bien Vert !

Voici ma dernière illustration, produite pour illustrer le blog de ma femme. Un blog amusant, décrivant les petits malheurs de la vie quotidienne, teinté ici et là par la culture haïtienne.
Ça s'appelle Joual Vert, comme l'illustre mon dessin. Et pour vous attirer à le visiter, voici quelques sujets : les fesses et les cheveux frisés dans la culture Black, des collégienne catholique excitées par les beaux gars, un mariage arrangé, pourquoi faut pas voler de l'eau bénite et l'horreur de la glace quand ce n'est pas dans un drink.....

More Arthur stuff.

This is related to me. I just can't tell you why, yet.

Back in animation !

It's been two weeks now, but I've been working at the Oasis Animation Studio here in Montreal. The show is called Arthur.
If it seem familiar, it's because 10 years ago I was also working in animation on the same show, but at Cinar. Arthur is on it's twelfth season with the same director, Greg Bailey. What I understand is that Oasis is subcontracting for Cookie Jar, the new name of Cinar. I'm having fun. It's like wearing old clothes. I know all the designs by heart almost and I'm working with poeple I know well doing character design. It's a small change because back then I was doing background design.

I've never posted something from Youtube here, so it's a first for me. So here goes, this is a show:



The job will be for two month. And during that time I plan to continue working - in the morning before going to work - on Frankenstein Réassemblé, the second book I'm doing with 400 Coups. More about that later.

L'image du jour / Picture of the day : The Terminator War

I'm still working on a schoolbook for Quebec publisher Lidec. Once again, it's for the new program Ethic and Religious Culture. It's a bold new program replacing the old religion/morality course that was there before. The goal is to show an integrated view of various cultures and religions, alongside our everyday pop culture references. So, you get an unusual mix of things to illustrate: Indu gods, points of view about what's freedom, gods of Babylon, the origins of species, Adam and Eve and...as shown today: The Terminator War. It's there to illustrate the concept of "end of the world" very common to many cultures.

Kurt Beaulieu et moi continuons de faire la chronique illustrée des Stats. Depuis 3 mois déja, Kurt m'écrit le scénario et j'illustre à la ligne avec tons de gris. Comme le nom l'indique, c'est une série de gags basés sur les statistiques venant de Léger et Léger, Ipsos et autres irritants des sondages téléphoniques... Malgré mes peurs, l'humour de Kurt passe assez bien la transition à la formule du gag traditionnel de Saf. Et on réussi meme à y faire des références bédé: Sabine, personnage fétiche de Kurt y fait une apparition et on a réussi à glisser Le Père Lacloche (Pete the tramp) dans le role d'un clochard de Montréal. Le personnage de Clarence D. Russell créé en 1932 réussi assez bien la transition ! Faut dire que la pauvreté continue d'etre d'actualité...
La couverture, visible ici, montre bien sûr les Tetes à Claques. Saf s'accroche à leur 15 minutes de gloire, ce qui a tres bien marché la derniere fois qu'ils étaient en couverture.

"Batman Begins" is ending for us.

I didn't do much updating these last weeks because I'm busy on other things, mainly inking work on the backgrounds of the comic adaptation of the "Batman Begins" movie. Serge Lapointe and I still have one week to go and then it will be shipped to the printer.
After that I'm not sure what's on my list of commercial work, so I'll go back to drawing pages of "John Star". Oh, and I forgot, I have another cover or 2 to do for the porn magazine "Screw".

That's about it.

By the way, all the problems with email and folders are resolved.
